The Importance of CCTV Inspection

We offer CCTV pipe and sewer video inspections with the newest state-of-the-art technology. AirX also can provide jetting as needed to clear pipes of mud and debris prior to CCTV inspections.

Doing a thorough CCTV inspection will reveal interior pipe damage, route directions, twists, and turns, locate laterals, and even provide depths. Our CCTV robots have lateral launchers that can probe laterals coming off the main and trace them all the way back to the cleanout.

How Our CCTV Inspections Work

Operated Push Cameras

CCTV equipment consists of a push camera or a remotely operated camera mounted on a  self-propelled robotic crawler that is connected to a video monitor at the surface. We can do both mainline and lateral CCTV inspections.

In addition, AirX uses equipment manufactured by IBAK, Cues and Proteous and we have push cameras for inspections in pipe sizes less than 6 inches. Cameras on both the truck-mounted and push camera systems have sounds that broadcast a signal that can be detected at the surface, we can markout on site exact locations of existing underground facilities.

Robot Crawlers

Lastly, AirX’s robot crawlers have lateral launchers which allow them to send cameras off the main pipe and up the laterals leading into buildings off the streets. This can show you not only where those laterals are (both underground and at their connection points), but also identify and pinpoint issues such as crossbores, cracks, offsets or clogs all the way up to the cleanouts.

CCTV Inspection Projects & Use Cases

When your objective is to get a close view of what’s inside drain lines, CCTV cameras are the solution. They are regularly used for the construction and development of a drainage system, among other uses.

Plus, utilizing CCTV to recognize exact issues is often considerably less expensive – and more precise – than exploratory digging.

CCTV inspections are also incredibly useful for other use cases; including:

  • Identify the size and material of construction
  • Identify general structural condition and defects
  • Evidence of inflow & infiltration
  • Identify potential blockages and damages from construction
  • Locate service laterals and buried maintenance holes
  • Locate obstructions, such as roots, grease, debris, and cross-bores
